Our Founders
Andrea Cornel

Andrea Cornel is the former President and Co-founder of Dig for Duke. Andrea was a Morehead-Cain Scholar at The University of North Carolina studying biology, medical anthropology, and math. Andrea is an avid curler and loves all things tea. Her best friend Kennedy inspired her to help start our non-profit!
When Andrea was 17 years old, she was diagnosed with metastatic thyroid cancer. She was a healthy, active person prior to her diagnosis, and little did she know that after 6 years of supporting Duke Children's Hospital, she would need them as well. Now, Andrea is cancer-free and her journey created an even deeper purpose for Dig for Duke.
Kennedy Goodwin

Kennedy was born with Goldenhar Syndrome which affects facial features, the skeleton, and organs. She has had 24 surgeries, many of which were at Duke Children's Hospital. With this lifelong journey, she has seen the impact that Duke Children's Hospital has had on every kid that walks through the doors.
